Can Tho, August 9, 2025 – Within the framework of international cooperation in medical workforce training, Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy, in collaboration with Hong Anh Healthcare Group and Modality Partnership (United Kingdom), organized the Workshop on “Training Cooperation and Capacity Building in Family Medicine and Primary Healthcare.” This workshop was designed for healthcare professionals and managers, aiming to equip them with strategic mindsets, updated knowledge, and practical operational capabilities in primary healthcare and population health.

The workshop was built upon exemplary international practices, while being flexibly adapted to suit the specific characteristics and operational context of the Vietnamese healthcare system. The program curriculum was structured into specialized modules, covering both clinical and non-clinical fields, to effectively support the process of innovation and quality enhancement in healthcare services. This is the result of a strategic partnership among three organizations:
Can Tho University of Medicine and Pharmacy – is the hosting organization, coordinating with partners on professional aspects and ensuring training quality within the framework of international cooperation. Modality Partnership is an organization providing primary care and community health services under the National Health Service (NHS) of the United Kingdom, which has won many NHS awards. This organization is managing a network of over 53 family doctor clinics (GP clinics) and community health services serving a community of 12 million people in the United Kingdom. Established in 2009, Modality is known for promoting innovation in the healthcare sector, specializing in data solutions and promoting global cooperation. The workshop focused on 4 main modules:
- Leadership and Management: Introducing leadership theories, emotional intelligence, team dynamics, and change management frameworks;
- Governance, Risk, and Patient Safety: Building a safety culture, managing risks, and preparing for independent governance assessments;
- Lifestyle Management and Population Health: Designing lifestyle interventions to improve metabolic health and prevent chronic diseases;
- Digital Transformation in Healthcare: Introducing digital health trends, artificial intelligence (AI) applications, data, and technology governance frameworks.
These modules were delivered through presentations, group discussions, practical exercises, and personalized action planning, under the direct guidance of senior experts from Modality Partnership. The speaker lineup included:

Following the course, participants achieved various practical competencies, such as: defining personal leadership styles; building effective teams; enhancing compliance monitoring and ensuring patient safety; designing health intervention measures tailored to local cultures; and clearly understanding the potential of digital technology in healthcare service delivery. Each participant successfully developed a concrete, highly feasible personal action plan that can be immediately applied to their daily work at their respective facilities.
